Understanding the need of hour and opting for non conventional sources of energy, Bhagirath Gram Vikas Pratisthan had initiated several measures which are not only reduces the cost, but also consumption.

Bio-Gas Unit
Till date more than 350 Bio-gas Units has been set up by our organization in 10 villages. These units are of fixed dome type and structured by the Ferro-Cement model. Apart from being a very Low cost unit, the waste generated through this unit in the form of slurry is used for making Vermi compost manure. Bio-gas not helps evading deforestation, but also providing a smoke free kitchen to the home maker. A Team of 12 rural youth had become expert in setting up a bio-gas unit, and are referred from far distances for their expertise. Thus Bio-gas has helped rural development in socio-economic way. Our organization has set a target of setting up 1000 Bio-Gas units by 2015 in sindhudurg district.

Solar Energy
Three Solar systems have been set up by the organization in different villages, where it was required the most. Facilitating the deprived class to benefit from it.
